Career Services Programs

 Job Success II 

Job Success II is a 30 hour comprehensive work readiness training process that meets five mornings a week for two weeks. It is designed to guide participants toward clarifying their career direction along with providing a solid foundation of employment-specific skills. Participants receive instruction and guidance in a group setting provided by a staff of experienced employment professionals. Columbus area employers from a variety of industry sectors recruit participants that successfully complete this process.

As a Job Success participant, an individual will:

  • Complete assessments and explore career options
  • Learn skills important to obtaining and maintaining a job
  • Complete learning modules in setting career goals, stress management, and conflict resolution
  • Learn skills needed to create and customize a resume, cover letter, ‘thank you’ letter and references documents
  • Learn strategies for effective follow-up and contact with employers
  • Learn and experience team skills for the workplace
  • Learn what employers expect of successful employees
  • Learn how to conduct an efficient and effective online job search
  • Learn and practice interviewing skills
  • Receive support during the job search and after being hired

 Career Workshops

Career Workshops are offered to job seekers that are interested in increasing their skill level in the following areas:

¨        Creating Your Personal Marketing Materials: Resume, Cover Letter, Thank You Letter and References Documents

¨        Interviewing Skills: Learn answers to those tough questions

¨        Conducting an Effective Job Search: Find open positions that fit your needs!

¨        Employment Lab: Practice your skills and work with employment professionals in an “open lab” environment

Each Career Workshop is 2 hours in length and is scheduled during the month with sessions available in the morning, afternoon and evening based upon need.

Job Success II and Career Workshops are offered at no cost to the participant. Each person receives all supplies necessary to complete the class. FREE babysitting is provided during classroom hours. 

To qualify for these programs, individuals must demonstrate a sincere interest in obtaining and maintaining employment, must commit to being on time for class and actively participating in class activities. Hiring Events 

To assist Godman Guild customers in obtaining employment as well as to serve job seekers in the community, Godman Guild hosts hiring events with local employers such as The Ohio State University and The OSU Medical Center several times a year based upon their hiring needs. This is a great opportunity for individuals currently working and those seeking employment to take that next career step toward increasing personal and family income!
