After allowing the streets to dictate his life, Jeremy’s* freedom finally came to a halt. He was charged with a serious offense which could have resulted in a life sentence. Jeremy was charged as a juvenile, and sentenced to 4 years in prison.
While on probation, Jeremy started volunteering at the Roots Café 3 times a week. Here he was introduced to Godman Guild’s Pathways to Work program, allowing him to receive hands on mentorship and training while on the job and earning a paycheck.
Jeremy has surpassed 60 consecutive days of employment – arriving on time, with a positive attitude and an enthusiasm to help others. He is currently training new Pathways to Work participants in the Roots Café kitchen. Jeremy has become a role model for future juvenile participants, and offers suggestions for curriculum to be covered in professional development classes. He is currently working on his college degree in criminal justice to become a juvenile probation officer and help at-risk youth.
Your support of Godman Guild will help many more individuals like Jeremy to take control of their future. Make your gift today and help move our future forward.
