The Godman Guild Association is currently hiring a Lifeguard at Camp Mary Orton for the 2020 summer season. This is a part-time, seasonal summer position, with the bulk of the hours on weekdays (some weekend availability is required). The essential job functions of the CMO Lifeguard is to provide swimming lessons, monitor swimmers, enforce safety rules and policies, and rescue distressed swimmers in order to provide a safe and fun environment for swimmers of all abilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist the Pool Director with facilitating and enforcing a safe swimming environment
Provide lessons on swimming and water safety techniques and practices to children and adults;
Enforce safety standards and policies among swimmers
Monitor swimmers
Rescue distressed swimmers as needed
Provide assistance and/or accommodations to include participants with disabilities
Maintain a clean and safe environment
Work Experience and Education

Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications. American Red Cross Head Guard and Water Safety Instructor certification is a plus.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to swim; lift and carry distressed swimmers; perform duties while outdoors and exposed to a variety of weather conditions; observe swimmers and identify unsafe activities and distressed swimmers; listen for distress calls by swimmers; show patience; remain focused on responsibilities despite numerous distractions and interruptions in a noisy environment; and give oral instructions and feedback to student swimmers.

This position requires a successful completion of a criminal background check.

Applicants must be 18 or older.
